February Favourites: Hozier, Barre3, Kombucha and more

27 February, 2015 by Giselle Rochford 5 Comments

Hey Friends! How’s it goin?

Can you believe February is almost over? I can. It’s the shortest month of the year, but for some reason this one felt wayyy too long. Anyway, today I’m resurrecting something I haven’t done in a long time: Friday Features.

When I started posting more recipes, I had to pick and choose the types of posts I would keep sharing and the Friday Features series was one of the first to go. But today, I’m feeling a little nostalgic, so I’m sharing some of my favourite things from the last month or so. And who knows…it might end up becoming a regular thing again.

1. Favourite Song: Hozier – Work Song

Another thing that might become a regular occurence around here? Background music suggestions. I love listening to music while catching up on blog reading and this one has been on repeat since February 1. No joke.

2. Favourite Workout: Barre

A couple of Sundays ago, I went to Toronto to meet up with some food bloggers and we did the most amazing class at Barre3 Toronto. We all know that I’m a huge fan of group classes and Barre3 was no exception. I’m pretty bummed that there’s no Barre studio here in Waterloo, but luckily there are online Barre workouts to keep me satisfied until I hopefully move to somewhere with a studio after I graduate. #fingerscrossed

3. Favourite Drink: Kombucha

This one made it onto another post recently and it’s here again. Before Kombucha I’d never been into fermented foods but now that I’ve tried it, I’m rethinking my aversion. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted but in an insanely good way. My most recent kombucha find was this Chai Orange Kombucha from Bunner’s Vegan and Gluten-Free Bake Shop in Toronto. So good.

Oh, and their baked goods are also out of this world.

4. Favourite LOLs: Witty Apparel

When I was in Toronto, I roamed around Yorkdale Mall with a friend and I spotted more than a few funny sayings on t-shirts and bags that actually made me laugh out load. These were some of my favourites:

5. Favourite Time Waster: Grey’s Anatomy

I successfully avoided television and Netflix for the last two years until I went to stay with a friend in Toronto. We binge watched half a season of Grey’s Anatomy (season 9 I think) and I was hooked. As soon as I got home last Wednesday, I grabbed my laptop and didn’t leave my house until I got caught up to season 11. Loading this one up as I type:

6. Favourite Foods: Too many

There’s a reason that I left this one for last. It shouldn’t be a secret that I’m always eating so it’ll be impossible for me to pick just one food I enjoyed the most in the last month. So, here’s all of it:

These chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're also vegan, gluten-free and ready in under 15 minutes @ExSloth

I love Barre too! I’m stuck doing it at home though because there isn’t a studio in my area either. I did yoga last night for the first time and that feels amazing!

Ahh I can’t quite get into Kombuchua (yet!). a few of my friends absolutely love it, but i tried it one time and just kind of felt like i was drinking alcohol (which kind of makes sense because it’s got some alcoholic content in it!). And I’m loving Hozier’s whole album… Take me to church is just the beginning of it, and I hope he gets more recognition for the rest of his amazing work!

Hozier is on constantly at my house now. I’m going to see him in July… it can’t get here fast enough!! My favorite of his is either Jackie & Wilson or From Eden.

Callie needs to quit her moaning already and if Maggie keeps on with these witty quips, then she should totally get more screen time because that was hilarious!!!
