5 Habits of Ultimate Fit Girls

4 February, 2015 by Giselle Rochford 24 Comments

Hey Friends! How’s it goin?

I’ve spent the last couple days studying for two midterms and catching up on work and my brain is more than a little addled right now. So when I sat down to write this post (at midnight of course) this is what spilled out.

5 tips to help you become one of the ultimate fit girls via @ExSloth | ExSloth.com #fitness

First, a little backstory:

When I first started using social media to share my healthy lifestyle change and later to promote the blog, my in real life friends didn’t really know what to make of it. They were a little confused by my sudden explosion of food pics and fitness related hashtags and they didn’t hesitate to poke fun at me.

They’d sprinkle random #fitfam or #fitgirl hashtags in texts or blurt them out in idle conversation. At first I got a little upset but I got over it pretty quickly. They were all – and still are – really supportive of the changes I was trying to make. We just tend to smack talk each other all the time, so it really wasn’t anything new. #love

That being said, I do have some pointers for them to channel their inner Fit Girls a little better and make their texts, IMs and other make-fun-of-Giselle messages just a little more #FitGirl-esque.

Warning: This list is totally a joke. I love to laugh and I spend most of my time in my head. So laughing at myself seemed like a natural progression #introvertedfitgirl

5 Tips for becoming one of the Ultimate Fit Girls

1. Workout

This one may be a no brainer, but fit girls actually have to exercise. Whether they’ve always been active or started because of a New Year’s Resolution and kept going, fit girls love to workout. And they do it often.

Bonus points if you only skip for special occasions, like your wedding.

2. Be on Social Media

Fit Girls are on social media. They’ve taken over the interwebs with their Twitter and Instagram accounts and regularly post updates of their workouts and meals. They’re also always ready to answer questions about their lifestyle and spread the love for fitness.

Bonus Points if you make a fitness related Facebook Page or a start a fitness blog

3. Know the Lingo

Fit Girls know how to talk the talk. They frequently drop words like gains and macros in regular conversation and relish any and every opportunity to explain the meaning of those words to aspiring Fit Girls.

Bonus points if you use hashtags like #fitgirl, #fitfam or #iifym

4. Dabble in other workouts

Fit girls have one core workout that they love, like running, lifting, yoga etc. But they’ve all tried at least one other workout in an attempt to branch out. Sometimes it’s love at first class, other times it’s a hot mess but hey, at least they’ve got an experience to post about now.

Bonus points if you’ve done hot yoga, soul cycle, crossfit, rock climbing, surfset or this is insane trampoline workout

5. Learn to Cook

A fit girl is not a true fit girl until she learns to make her own food. Fit girls usually start their cooking journey by attempting to recreate healthier versions of their favourite unhealthy foods. And of course, post all creations on Instagram.

Bonus points if you can use your hand for portion control

And, now that I’ve made a mockery of fit girls everywhere (including myself) I’ll go back to studying for my midterm today.

What about you?

Are you a fit girl? What makes you one? Any ‘tips’ to add?

hahaha, I love this! 😀 I definitely don’t usually post workouts, but ever since I came out of my blogging cave, I managed to get over my anti-social-media status and have at least kindasorta been spreading my love for food and fitness around!

I’d add being supportive and encouraging to others onto that list! :]

Good luck on your midterms! <3

haha love this! I only post my workouts on social media when I’m doing the TIU bikini series or something, other than that, I don’t because it just clogs up my channels IMO. Love your list ♥

😆 Brilliant. I’d say I’m a closet fit girl. I don’t talk about my exercise routines on any of my social media outlets, but I -do- try to stay active. I think I might have to start posting daily shots of my shoes/legs and sweaty post-workout selfies 😉
