Hey Friends! How’s it goin?
Happy Friday!
For today’s Friday Feature, I thought I’d share some things from my fitness bucket list. I’ve already crossed of some things from the master list, like rock climbing and running a 5K but I haven’t done anything lately.
I want to at least to get these five out of the way within the ext year, so I thought if I shared them with you, I might actually do some of them. Accountability right?
My Fitness Bucket List 07/2014 – 07/2015
1. Run a half marathon 10K
When I first wrote out my fitness bucket list last summer, I was hot and sweaty about running – no pun intended – and I was sure I’d be up for training for a half marathon by now. But honestly, this should be ‘Become a Runner’ because even a 10K is aiming too high right now. I’m seriously almost back at my ‘kill-me-now’ running point. I just can’t seem to get into running again this summer but I’m leaving it on there cuz there’s always hope right?
2. Take a Barre Class
I read about these things everywhere and I really want to try one! There aren’t any studios in Waterloo that I’m aware of but I do know of some in Toronto. One of my friends has a relative that works at one of the studios so I’ve got an in š
3. Take an outdoor yoga class
There’s just something about doing yoga outside early in the morning or late at night that seems so peaceful to me. This might have to wait until next summer though. The only outdoor yoga classes I’ve found in Waterloo happen during the day on weekdays, and I’m working right now š
4. Run an obstacle course race
Is that what they’re called? Races like Tough Mudder and Spartan? Whatever they’re called I want to do one! I know I’ll have to ramp up my training before I sign up for one, but it’ll be worth it I think. #MightyGiselle anyone?
5. Do 3 sets of 10 pull ups
This is probably my most specific goal for the next year, but it’s been on my fitness bucket list forever. I can maybe do 5/6 pullups straight on a really good day when all the stars and planets are aligned just right. But most days I’m lucky to get in 2 in a row. My mission is to change that!
And just because, here are some cool fitness related things that I’ve seen recently
Kacy Catanzaro on American Ninja Warrior via Mashable -> In case you didn’t get the #MightyGiselle reference
Pull up training AMRAP via Variety by Vashti -> If Kayla says it works, it works
12 minute workout to become a better runner via Huff Post Healthy Living -> Because I need all the help I can get
How to lose weight with yoga via The Skinny on Health -> Interesting read
Fitness Flashcards via The Wellness Battle -> How cool are these?
What about you?
What are some things on your Fitness Buck List?
Have you ever done any of the things on mine before?

Great list! Admittedly, I haven’t done anything on your list. Perhaps I should add a few of them to mine š I love ANW and was stunned that Kacy made it so far. She’s awesome!

I have never took a Barre class either. I’d like to try one out. As for yoga I’m not a huge fan but maybe doing it outdoors may be nice.

This is a great list! I’ve never done any of them, but would love to take an outdoor yoga class. I’ve taken some hot yoga classes before, but I’d love to try other forms of yoga. Good luck with your list!

I LOVE barre classes! It’s amazing how much your legs/core shake and how good it feels! Start saving though – I can’t believe how pricey they are š

What a fabulous list, Giselle! The more we do, the more we are able to do. My list is not even close to yours. lol But what we all must remember is to start where we are and do what we can. I admire those who can do these amazing courses. A friend of mine does them, and she’s the one who inspired me to start moving. I cannot wait to hear about your fitness achievements over the next year!

Love the bucket list!
I started training this summer. It’s quite hard in the heat! Hope you get your motivation soon!
I’ve heard great things about the barre classes!
I think my first goal is going to be a 5k at a mud run. They look like so much fun! Hope you get to join one soon!

I’ve had a few workouts I’ve been wanting to try for what feels like forever (including a Barre class!). I love the idea of narrowing them down to the top 5 and posting them with a deadline. Thank you for the inspiration!

Great list! I did a Barre class years ago, and was really intimidated. I stumbled upon a class that consisted of professional athlete wives. Needless to say, I didn’t fit in, and I felt like a huge clutz until one of the ladies in the class helped me along the way!

This is a great list! I still can’;t do a single pull-up haha. I have zero upper body strength.

I am contemplating a half marathon for the fall, although I’m still a little too scared to sign up! lol I did 2 OCRs earlier this year and they were awesome…I’m totally addicted!! and I would LOVE to be able to do pull-ups!! They’re SO hard! š

How cool, I love this idea. I totally want to make a fitness bucket list now. I have never done any “fitness milestones” before. So I would include a 5k, color run, or mud run. They all seem fun but still getting the fitness in too. Good luck!!

I love barre and never thought it would be my thing. But it’s so nice to do it as a change of pace from the other stuff I do and get in some muscle building!

A 10K is a good and reasonable goal. You only need to double your distance to keep challenging yourself. 5K to 10K, then after that look at a half.
I couldn’t do even half of a pull up to save my life. You’re strong!!!

great list!! I tried Barre one and wasn’t a fan but giving it another go with a friend this week. I can do pull ups but definitely not unassisted!

I would love to run a half marathon (have to do the 5k first) and a few obstacle/fun runs. My fitness bucket list includes hiking a new place at least once a week, trying yogalates, and saving up for a bike to start cycling.

What a cute idea! I have seen summer bucket lists, but not a fitness one yet! I would have to put getting PiYo certified or TRX certified on mine. I just need to do it. And thanks for the link up! Go after it, girl!
