Hey There Friends! How’s it goin?
It’s been a while since I did a fitspiration post and with the New Year fast approaching, I thought today would be the perfect time to rectify that 😀
Why you should Get Started TODAY!
Earlier this month, I wrote and in-depth post about the health and fitness life lessons I learned over the last year on fooood4theheart for the Elf4Health blog swap. It really brought home how much my decision to get started on my health and fitness had changed my life for the better.
But the one thing I forgot to talk about in that post however, was WHY you should actually get started.
Most of us know the ‘academic’ reasons for getting healthy. But speaking from experience, those are just words until you’ve experienced it yourself.
A couple weeks ago I saw this quote on my Facebook news feed and it resonated with me for some strange reason.
“A year from now, you’ll wish you had started today!”

I say strange, because I’ve seen this quote so many times before. Not once or twice but dozens of times. But it never really spoke to me before, because I’d never been doing anything for a year before – well not something that I’d put off for years at least.
But when I saw that post I realised I had started my ‘journey’ around the middle of Fall 2012 so it had actually been MORE than a year since I got serious about my health and fitness!
When I think about how I am today and the changes that a year has wrought, well I actually wish I had started TWO years ago!
I can’t imagine what my life would be right now if I hadn’t made that decision a year+ ago, but I can guarantee it wouldn’t be half as good.
I’m not going to lie; it was NOT easy. Turning my mostly unhappy and unhealthy life around and trying to make a go of being happy, healthy and fit was HARD.
There were tears. There were weekends of binge eating and feeling depressed and sorry for myself. There were days I thought I’d never be able to change a thing and was ready to throw in the towel.
But once I decided to get started, I persevered. I stuck with it despite the ups and downs. And I’m so very glad that I did!
I’m HAPPIER. I’m HEALTHIER. I’m FITTER.
My default isn’t to be pessimistic and depressed and wish that things were different, but to get out and actually get things done, usually with a smile on my face!
I don’t just eat whatever is around or eat because I’m bored or unhappy. I surround myself with amazing, wholesome, healthy food choices and listen to my body before I eat.
Gone are the days when I’d just laze around for weeks on end and basically wallow in my…whatever. Now I try to SWEAT as much as possible. I LOVE the felling I get from exerting myself and working out.
And it’s all because I finally decided to GET STARTED.
It was probably the hardest decision I’ve made on this journey so far, but it was worth it!
What about you?
What changes did you notice once you decided to get started on your health and fitness journey?
Or, what’s holding you back from taking the plunge and getting started?

Wow, thanks for sharing your story! Also, that is one of my all time favorite quotes. I started my health/fitness journey on an impulse at the end of a February (2012), and I haven’t regretted it for a second! I’m not where I thought I would be at this point with my weight, so in some ways I feel like I’m starting over. But I know I have learned oh so very much through the past nearly two years that I wouldn’t trade them for anything! I’m NOT starting over. I’m just getting more of an opportunity to apply what I’ve learned 🙂
Ashleigh @ Passion for Life, Love, and Health recently posted…Motivate…With Pros and Cons Lists!
I’m almost positive that you were the one who posted the quote on FB that sparked this post! Also, I get where you’re coming from. Every ‘reset’ after a slip up has me feeling like I’m starting over from scratch. But what I seem to forget is that each time I ‘start over’ I do it armed with more knowledge that’ll hopefully keep me on the wagon, so all hope isn’t lost 🙂
Hello, various problems have started to occur with my child. He refuses to listen to me at all, he fights at school and gets bad grades. So I was looking for a solution that can help me and then I came across https://drmental.org/best-online-therapy-for-kids. This platform helped me decide on a personal therapist for my son. Since a really personal approach is needed here, I approached the choice very carefully. But after a couple of sessions with one of the specialists, my son began to change before my eyes. Thank you very much!
