Circuit Workout for Partners

11 December, 2013 by Giselle Rochford 8 Comments

Hey There! How’s it goin?

cold

It’s disgustingly snowy and cold here in Waterloo today 🙁 I actually felt the muscles in my legs shaking as I tried to combat the driving wind and power through the mountain of snow on my walk to work this morning…guess that’s one way to start my day with a workout 😉

Elf4Health Kindness

I have been loving this challenge and am so glad I decided to take the plunge and do it :D.

While most of the challenges so far have been health and fitness related in some way, there were two challenges we did that were really all about goodwill and being kind. I felt like they gave us the opportunity to take a step back and remember that health isn’t only about how we exercise or what we eat. Being mentally healthy is super important as well and doing kind and generous thins good start to achieving that!

Operation Beautiful 1

Last Friday, we were tasked with bringing a smile to someone’s face with Operation

Clearly my stealth mode needs a little work 😉Beautiful notes. I decided to ‘Operation Beautify’ the women’s bathroom on my floor at work and taped 9 notes in bathroom stalls, on the mirrors and on the door. I actually got ‘caught’ by a co-worker when I was going back to leave a 10th note. I thought it was pretty hilarious, since I had left the other 9 without incident LOL.

I really loved this challenge because, even though the point was to remind others that they are beautiful and loved just the way they are, it also reminded ME of that fact, and it’s honestly not something I tell myself of often enough.

pay it forwardYesterday’s challenge was to pay it forward in some way. The Elf4Health facebook group was flooded with all the good deeds my fellow elves did. Some bought coffees and food for families in need, some donated to worthy causes (like I did) and one person even ‘adopted’ an entire family for Christmas and bought them groceries and a Christmas tree! All those amazing and heart warming stories helped to remind me that this is the season of giving and I’ve decided to try to add some more kind & generous deeds to my daily life.

So thanks Elle & Lindsay for the Elf4Health lessons in kindness 😀

Partner Circuit Workout

partner circuit workout

Monday’s challenge was to complete a circuit workout. I had originally planned to do the body weight workout I posted a couple weeks ago. But since I missed the buddy workout challenge last week (due to my workout buddy being sick :() I decided to come up with a partner circuit workout, and combine the two challenges!

You can actually do this partner circuit workout on your own, by running through it from left to right, but it’s a lot more fun when you do it with someone else 😀

The best part about this circuit workout, apart from the fact that it’s a full body workout, is that the person doing the plank is totally dependent on their buddy. They can’t stop planking until their partner has finished all 10 reps!

My buddy and I had lots of fun messing with each other by taking excruciatingly long with certain exercises so the other was forced to plank for longer. Good Times lol

 What about you?

Have you ever left or received an Operation Beautiful note? Or done something to pay it forward?

What’s your favourite circuit workout?

I love that you are so deliberate in reaching out to other people this time of year and encouraging them!

I have left an encouraging note here and there and it always makes me smile to imagine how the person who reads it feels.

Hi Diane! I honestly wouldn’t of done any of those things without the Elf for Health challenge, but now that I have I’m so glad I did!
And it’s great that you leave those kinds of notes. I’ve been on the receiving end of a couple and I must say that reading one keeps me on cloud nine for days after, so keep it up! 😀
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I’ve been looking for great partner drills for years now! In my searches I would always find the same cheesy ones. These are awesome. Thanks for sharing and sparking some new ideas on my own!!
